Did Rondo Quit on the Mavs?

Rajon Rondo: An 8-second violation on offense followed by a “missed assignment” on defense. This is what quiting looks like.

After only playing 10 minutes in the Mavs 111-99 loss to the Houston Rockets last night, Rondo was clearly not happy about being replaced in favor of third-string point JJ Barea who finished the night with 13 points in 33 minutes.

After the game, Rondo darted to his locker before quickly heading to the trainer’s room to apparently recieve treatment, albiet, fully dressed. Minutes later, according to ESPNDallas.com, “Rondo emerged with headphone buds in his ears and ignored the handful of reporters who attempted to ask him questions as he walked toward the arena’s exits, his eyes never shifting from straight ahead.”

Since Day 1, Rondo has never seemed happy to here in Dallas. Following the Rondo-Carlisle shouting match in February, teammates heard Rondo ask him: “Why the [bleep] did you bring me here” according to Yahoo Sports. “As long as the coach is back, Rondo’s gone. The parting could be mutual.”

Make no mistake, Rondo is done here in Dallas, maybe not physically, but mentally he checked out a long time ago. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Rondo is sent packing for the rest of the season. Either way, it appears, Coach Carlisle has had it with Rondo and Rondo has had it with the Mavs.
